- Interviewees are positioned to the left or right of the frame - if more than one interview it alternates.
- Interviewees are filmed in medium shot, medium close - up and close - up.
- Questions are edited out.
- Mise - en - scene ~ background reinforces the contents of the interviewer is relevant to the interviews, providing more information about them in terms of occupation or personal environment.
- Graphics are used to anchor who the person is onscreen and their relevant to the topic of the documentary.
- The positioning of the interviewer is therefore important.
- Interviewee looks af the interviewer not directly at us.
- The interviewer should sit or stand as close to the camera as possible.
- Framing follows the rule of thirds (3).
- Interviews are never filmed with a light source behind the interviewee i.e. infront of the window, with the sun behind them.
- The light is always in front of the interviewee.
